Perrysburg business raided by Police for alleged violation of trademark
A search warrant was carried out by several law enforcement agencies at Glow Industries, located in the 12000 block of Eckel Junction Road. The operation was conducted on Tuesday morning. The company is basically a distributor of tobacco based constituents like pipes, vapour machines and hookahs. The Term CB300F Trademarked by Honda
As per reports from sources, yet another small-displacement bike has been registered as a trademark, however, this time it is from Honda and the name CB300F has been registered with the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM), the European Union trademark and designs office. Except for the sketches, no other information on the bike is presently available. Another thing is that even though manufactures often seek to protect their new products by registering different trademarks for their names, such moves can never be taken as 100% warranty for realization of a specific motorcycle. San Antonio Winery Wins Trademark Infringement Case
San Antonio Winery Inc. today informed that an injunction by the court was granted yesterday prohibiting global giant, Constellation Brands, from selling its “Rosatello” wine with the specific packaging that San Antonio claims is too similar to its popular “Stella Rosa” product line. This verdict by Judge Kronstadt of the U.S. Central District of California allows the Los Angeles-based winery’s goal to protect the brand image of its “Stella Rosa” trademark. (さらに…)
Trademark Infringement Case Filed against Victoria’s Secret
Hanky Panky Ltd. (Hanky Panky), a Manhattan-based company filed a complaint in the federal court against Victoria’s Secret for possible trademark infringement. Hanky Panky has two registered trademarks in the United States, “After Midnight”, which they acquired in 2010 and “Indulge Your Inner Flirt” which was assumed in 2003.
Victoria’s Secret is offering a collection called “After Midnight” which comprises of a candle, a room spray and more. They are also using an advertisement with a line of sleepwear that reads, “indulge your inner flirt.” Hanky Panky is asking the court to forbid Victoria’s Secret’s use of the trademarks. They are also seeking monetary damages, including recompense for the cost of corrective advertising. No response has been made on the part of Victoria’s Secret regarding this complaint.
Victoria’s Secret has come across such controversies over the name of its collections many times in the past. Victoria’s Secret started its first store in UK in 2012. In the very next year, i.e. May 2013, Thomas Pink, a company that sells high-end shirts, filed suit against Victoria’s Secret alleging that their Pink brand is too close to its own brand and trademarks. Thomas Pink also alleges that customers were likely to be misguided by Victoria’s Secret marketing of its products under the Pink label. The Pink line was launched in 2002 by Victoria’s Secret’s mainly considering teenagers and women in their early twenties. (さらに…)

A trademark dilution case was filed by the famous Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey against another local distiller in October 2013. Jack Daniel’s representatives have claimed that the accused distillery copied their bottle and label’s legendary design. Trademark Rights to Muhammad Ali’s Intellectual Property Sold
Authentic Brands Group (ABG) announced last November that it has acquired the rights to Muhammad Ali’s intellectual property. The rights purchased by ABG include what the company described as “the largest library of photos and videos of the boxer.” The trademark rights purchased by the company also include Ali’s famous sayings, such as “Float Like A Butterfly, Sting Like A Bee,” “Thrilla In Manila,” and “Greatest Of All Time.” ABG is actually a brand development and licensing company.
Nick Woodhouse, the president and chief marketing officer of ABG said, “We bought this partly because of who Ali was as a sportsman and partly because of who Ali is as a humanitarian.” As per Woodhouse, ABG will seek licensing partners based on Ali’s six core principles: “confidence, conviction, dedication, giving, respect, and spirituality.” The intellectual property rights of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley are also owned by ABG.
Muhammad Ali he is popularly regarded as one of greatest boxers of all time and was awarded the title “Sportsman of the Century” by Sports Illustrated and “Sports Personality of the Century” by the BBC. Ali won the gold medal at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome and, with a career record of 56 wins and 5 losses. He is also the only man to ever be a World Heavyweight Champion three times in a row. An Alabama Football Fan Attempts to Trademark ‘Famous Jameis’

Is Twitter’s Trademark At Risk of Genericide?
As per a filing by Twitter with the Securities and Exchange Commission late last year, its trademarked word “tweet” risks becoming genericized, and is therefore invalid or unenforceable. In the filing, the counsel for Twitter explained that there was a risk that the word ‘Tweet’ could be used so commonly that it becomes associated with any short comment posted publicly on the Internet, and if anything this that happens, they could possibly lose protection of that trademark.
