Following ruling from the 2nd Circuit a trademark lawsuit against the famous talk show host’s company can now move forward. As per the case, Simone Kelly-Brown, the proprietor of a motivational services business called ‘Own Your Power Communications Inc.’, is litigating Winfrey over her usage of the phrase “Own Your Power” in her magazine and on her website. Disney Charges Deadmau5 of Trademark Infringement

Disney has cautioned the U.S. Trademark Office last week that it will most likely to challenge a trademark filed by Joel Zimmerman, better known as EDM star Deadmau5 (pronounced as dead mouse). The artist Deadmau5 is famous for his super-sized mouse head that he puts on during his sets. However, he has not trademarked his logo till now. According to reports, Zimmerman’s Ronica Holdings Limited is trying to trademark a black and white graphic of a mouse that Disney fears could infringe upon its famous trademark logo of Mickey Mouse. Diageo Sues Admiral Nelson’s Rum for Trademark Infringement

Diageo has moved for a legal action against Heaven Hill’s Admiral Nelson’s rum over claims that it was infringing on the trademark of Diageo’s Captain Morgan rum. The lawsuit regarding the matter was filed by the liquor giant at the Federal Court of Canada on Wednesday, 26 March, 2014, against the Heaven Hill Distilleries, based in the US which owns brands like Elijah Craig and Evan Williams Bourbons. Montenegro amends its trademark law to harmonize with that of EU

The Balkan country of Montenegro has lately drafted amendments to its trademark law for making it concurrent with the European Union trademark legislation. The amendments proposed are expected to be adopted soon. Trademarks for ‘Katie Design’ and ‘Tanmai Jewelers’ assigned by USPTO

The trademark for the name “Katie Design” was allocated to Stanton / Katie Scott who was doing business as Katie Design Jewelry Ltd. of Houston, Texas, with the registration number 4500733 on March 25 by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). Katie Design Jewelry had registered for obtaining the trademark on May 1, 2013 and had first used it commercially in August of that year. The logo of ‘Katie Design Jewelry’ uses the colors black and yellow as a feature of the trademark, with a yellow letter “T” in the word Katie symbolizing a cross.
