Defendant demands a whopping $553,000 in trademark lawsuit
An associate company of Reynolds American Inc., which is also a defendant in a trademark lawsuit has presented a motion demanding $553,000 in a final judgment.
Chance Addison said that he proved that that Reynolds’ legal actions has caused damages to his electronic cigarette companies based in Spokane, Wash. In addition, Addison is also trying to resist an effort by Reynolds Innovations Inc. to hold him from marketing products similar to Reynolds’ Camel and Winston brands in taste or logo. The subsidiary company has filed the case in March 2013.
However, in February, a Forsyth County District Court judge sanctioned a no-contact order of one year against Addison to cease him from harassing the law firm representing Reynolds Innovation LLC. Addison had earlier gone unannounced and uninvited on January 14 to the offices of Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP situated in downtown Winston-Salem. The petition for the no-contact was registered the very next day.
If the order by the court is violated by Addison, he can get a punishment by fine or can even be sent to prison.
