Disney Charges Deadmau5 of Trademark Infringement

Disney has cautioned the U.S. Trademark Office last week that it will most likely to challenge a trademark filed by Joel Zimmerman, better known as EDM star Deadmau5 (pronounced as dead mouse). The artist Deadmau5 is famous for his super-sized mouse head that he puts on during his sets. However, he has not trademarked his logo till now. According to reports, Zimmerman’s Ronica Holdings Limited is trying to trademark a black and white graphic of a mouse that Disney fears could infringe upon its famous trademark logo of Mickey Mouse.

As per Hollywood Reporter, DeadMau5 who covers his head with the model of a giant mouse while performing, has filed a registration for trademark which would include entertainment services, electrical and scientific apparatus, BMX bikes, paper goods, leather goods, toys and sporting goods and foods and beverages.

The Walt Disney Company has asked for 90 days to respond and has been granted the same to investigate the registration and file a notice of opposition. Considering it as one of the largest media corporations in the world, it is felt that this is one fight the famously outspoken Zimmerman won’t be able to win.
