What are the fees for maintaining a trademark application registration?
No maintenance fees are required unless and until an application is allowed, at which time a registration fee is required. A trademark is registered for a period of ten years and should be renewed before the expiry of the period. At the time of registration or renewal, the official fee can be either paid in full for the entire ten years, or in an installment covering five years each. The current official fees, per class, are as follows;
Registration fee for full ten year term: 37,600 yen
Registration fee for five year installment: 21,900 yen
Renewal fee for full ten year term: 48,500 yen
Renewal fee for five year installment: 28,300 yen
